Our Board has recently approved our next three-year strategy and we have ambitious plans to develop the services which we offer. We are looking to appoint two additional non-executive Directors who will support our continued growth, working with the Board and our experienced management team under the leadership of our founder Kirsty Thomson.
We are particularly looking for candidates with the following skillsets:
- Experience of developing and implementing marketing and PR strategies, including the effective use of social media
- Experience of engagement with stakeholders within the voluntary sector
- Experience of leadership within an organisation focusing on delivery of high-quality service to customers
- Experience of organisational planning and management of performance
As a director your role, along with the rest of the Board, is to lead the process for development of The Circle’s strategy and vision and to provide entrepreneurial leadership while ensuring effective controls are in place. You don’t need to have previous experience as a Director, but you do need to be prepared to commit the time needed to understand and fulfil the role.
“I’ve had the absolute pleasure of supporting an amazing Community Interest Company as a Non-Exec Director over the last four years. The significant social impact of The Circle CIC has grown through the energy and creativity of Kirsty Thomson CEO and the amazing team that she leads. I’d encourage anyone considering how they could use their skills and experience to support communities and be a small part of real, positive social impact to spend some time getting to know The Circle’s work and consider applying to join the board.”Pete Baillie, The Circle Board member
Board meetings normally take place quarterly, on weekday evenings. In addition to reading the papers in advance and attending meetings, non-executive directors are also expected to be available at other times to provide advice and support to management, attend events organised by The Circle and take part in discussions on urgent matters which may arise from time to time.
Non-executive Directors are unpaid, and give their time freely in order to help The Circle to achieve its objective in support of the community. You can read about the other Directors here.

The closing date for these opportunities is Friday 30th April.
If you would like to apply for either role please email email@example.com with details of your experience and why you think you can help The Circle as a Director. If you have a current CV please also include this. We will arrange interviews so candidates can meet the Directors and find out more about the role before we finalise the appointments.
